Barrick Gold Shares Surge 8% After $430M Mali Mine Settlement
Barrick Gold Corporation (B) resolved a two-year dispute with Mali over the Loulo Gounkoto mine through a $430 million settlement. The agreement includes an immediate payment of 144 billion CFA francs, VAT credit offsets of 50 billion CFA francs, and reinstates Barrick's full operational control.
The deal extinguishes arbitration claims and criminal charges while securing a 10-year permit renewal. Shares rallied 8% to $39.54 as analysts projected 670K ounces of annual production could generate $1.5B in operating cash flow.
